I recently canceled the last of the streaming services I was subscribed to: Hulu. Not only because of the parent company's recent decisions, but also because I just don't enjoy watching movies and television.
I've never been a TV person, and that's grown from apathy to dislike to what feels like a genuine aversion. There are movies that have been sitting on my watchlist for months or years that I could watch at any time, yet I don't want to watch them. It's not for lack of time (I have plenty of free time) or access (I know how to pirate things). I simply do not want to sit down and watch a movie, or 2-3 episodes of television.
I'm not sure if I want to keep my "watch 12 movies" in 2026 and beyond. Watching one movie per month isn't difficult, but I have to actively seek out these movies, and that's something I definitely don't enjoy doing.

Date: 2025-09-26 04:06 pm (UTC)You are not alone. I cannot stand the passivity of watching television and movies. Granted, some have made me think about interesting concepts and what not, but I find reading, which I find somehow manages to be more engaging and less passive than watching moving pictures, to be a better tool for that sort of thing.
